Who we work with and what backs us

What your intolerance report includes

Lactose, gluten, fructose, and histamine

Genetically-based intolerances appear when you inherit variants that reduce your ability to process a certain food. These are the ones analyzed, along with the gene involved in each.

Lactose

Whether your genetics keeps lactase production active into adulthood. It depends on variants in the MCM6/LCT region, and it's the most common genetic intolerance.

Gluten and celiac disease

The HLA-DQA1 and HLA-DQB1 haplotypes associated with celiac disease: without them, it's very unlikely to develop it; with them, it's far from certain.

Fructose

The variants of the ALDOB gene linked to hereditary fructose intolerance.

Histamine

How you break down histamine from food, based on your variants in the DAO and HNMT genes.

Genetically-based allergies

The variants described for the most common food allergies: egg, shellfish, and peanut.

A genetic predisposition is not a diagnosis of intolerance: it explains part of the picture, and the rest is told by your symptoms and your doctor.

Who vouches for the science

Example conversation

  1. You

Why doesn't afternoon coffee agree with me?

  2. GeneAI

You have the slow version of the gene that metabolizes caffeine, so it can still be affecting you several hours after you drink it. Genetics explains part of it; sleep habits and routine explain another part that matters just as much.

  3. You

Explain it to me like I know nothing about genetics.

  4. GeneAI

Your body takes longer than normal to switch off caffeine's effect. If you have it in the mid-afternoon, it's likely still working by the time you go to sleep.

GeneAI explains your results. It is not a medical diagnosis and does not replace consultation with a healthcare professional.

Scientific standard

Are DNA tests reliable?

Yes, when they use validated technology. ADNTRO analyses ~700,000 markers with an Illumina GSA chip in an ISO 17025-certified laboratory (Eurofins, Denmark), and its risk models are published in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Variants with evidence described in peer-reviewed literature
  • Informational results, never a diagnosis
  • Genotyping in a certified European laboratory
  • Results linked to the study they're based on, its population and sample size
  • UK Biobank as our validation base

Frequently asked questions

Does it tell me if I'm celiac or intolerant?
It tells you which variants you have. With celiac disease, for example, without the HLA-DQA1 and HLA-DQB1 haplotypes it's very unlikely to develop it, but having them is far from meaning you will. Diagnosis is made by your doctor, based on your symptoms.
What do I need to take the test?
Just your saliva. The kit arrives at your door with everything you need and the instructions. No needles, and no fasting required.
How long until I get my results?
Between 3 and 4 weeks from when we receive your sample. We email you at every step.
Who can see my data?
Only you. We don't ask for personal data when you register the kit, so not even we can link a sample to a person.
Is this a medical diagnosis?
No. Results are for research and educational purposes, and they don't replace consultation with a healthcare professional. We calculate your predisposition from published genetic association studies (GWAS), so you can explore your genetic code with context.
