Where you come from, with names and proportions
Your DNA compared against reference panels like 1000 Genomes and the HGDP: how much you resemble each population, which family line each part comes from, and what human species that no longer exist left behind in you.
Genetic composition
Which of the 42 ethnic groups we analyze your DNA most resembles, and in what proportion. It's calculated over about 700,000 markers in the regions of highest variation.
Maternal and paternal haplogroups
The two branches you can trace back: who each lineage descends from, where it's common, and which historical figures share it. The paternal line requires a Y chromosome.
Ancestral patterns
The traces of ancient migrations in your DNA, using the five-component ADMIXTURE model. In collaboration with Professor Joshua Banta (University of Texas at Tyler).
Neanderthal and Denisovan
How much you inherited from these species, which coexisted with Homo sapiens around 70,000 years ago. Between 1% and 4% of the genome of modern non-African humans comes from Neanderthals.
Genetic diversity
Your heterozygosity ratio compared against 26 populations from the 1000 Genomes project. Greater genetic variability protects against recessive diseases.

Are DNA tests reliable?
Yes, when they use validated technology. ADNTRO analyses ~700,000 markers with an Illumina GSA chip in an ISO 17025-certified laboratory (Eurofins, Denmark), and its risk models are published in peer-reviewed journals.
