This means that, if our DNA is made up of 3,000 x 10<sup>6<\/sup> base pairs, two individuals will contain different genetic information approximately in 30 million base pairs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore, although a priori 0.1% sounds insignificant, when we see it in terms of base pairs, it becomes important. <strong>That 0.1% has a great influence between two people, and is related to a genetic susceptibility of disease development, to suffer adverse effects associated with genetic biomarkers, response to certain infections ...&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"http:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-1024x682.png\" alt=\"Characteristics of the Perfect Genome\" class=\"wp-image-4185\" style=\"width:840px;height:559px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-1024x682.png 1024w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-1536x1024.png 1536w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1-18x12.png 18w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto1.png 1949w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This distribution of the 3,000 million base pairs is fundamental for all the biological processes that take place in each of the cells of our body. <strong>Each of the changes in our DNA are referred to as a <a href=\"https:\/\/adntro.com\/en\/blog\/learn-genetics\/what-are-snps\/\">SNPs<\/a><\/strong> (<em>Single Nucleotide Variants<\/em>) and represent one of the <strong>mechanisms of the <a href=\"https:\/\/adntro.com\/en\/blog\/genetic-curiosities\/theory-of-evolution-throughout-history\/\">human evolution<\/a><\/strong>. Therefore, <strong>We can classify these SNPs as \"good\" or \"bad\" depending on the protective or risk effect they might have in relation to all the traits.<\/strong> in which genetics may be influencing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, one could design what would be a <strong>&quot;Perfect genome&quot;, including &quot;good&quot; SNPs<\/strong>. A study on this clarified that the number of &quot;good&quot; SNPs that the perfect genome should have should be <strong>4967<\/strong>, approximately. If we represent the distribution of this genome with respect to the different populations, we will be able to identify which population this genome will most resemble (Figure 2):<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"489\" height=\"489\" src=\"http:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto2.jpg 489w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto2-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">This figure represents the distribution of SNPs of the \u201cperfect genome\u201d colored in pink together with the different populations, AFR: African \/ African American, AMR: Amerindian \/ Latino, EAS: East Asian, EUR: European, OPT: Other populations. As we can see, according to this principal component analysis, <strong> the perfect genome would correspond to some individual whose miscegenation would be something similar to an Amerindian. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Yuiza: &quot;The Perfect Genome&quot;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The closest individual and therefore the most similar to the &quot;perfect genome&quot; is an individual that corresponds to <strong>a Puerto Rican woman<\/strong>, and we can relate it to the Taino India known as <strong>Yuiza<\/strong>. A native woman, regarded as <strong>A strong woman<\/strong> and that it would represent the entire indigenous mestizo population. The fact that the \u201cperfect genome\u201d has its maximum similarity with this population makes all the sense, given that the Puerto Rican population is a highly mixed population between native Indians and Caucasian European population, and this variability is what we would find in the considered \u201cgenome perfect&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"425\" height=\"351\" src=\"http:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto3.jpg 425w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto3-300x248.jpg 300w, https:\/\/adntro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/genoma_perfecto3-15x12.jpg 15w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>However, let&#039;s not forget that it is a <strong>Designed &quot;perfect genome&quot;.<\/strong> <strong>The perfect genome does not correspond to any particular population<\/strong>, given that the gene pool is not yet sufficiently mixed, and although it looks a lot like the Puerto Rican population, it is not exactly the same.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do you want to learn more about Yuiza's story and the whole genome study?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suggested Reading material:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bits of DNA. All\u00ed estudi\u00f3 las redes de interacci\u00f3n metab\u00f3lica en el microbioma de pacientes con Enfermedad de Chron y Colitis Ulcerosa en el centro de investigaci\u00f3n CBGP, centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa (2020).
